Our Secure Communications portfolio specializes in the development of highly advanced electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) payloads and secure communication systems – technologies critical to modern defense operations. As a Program Engineering Manager (PEM), you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery and support of these vital systems. This key leadership role will lead an engineering production team, ensuring on-time delivery of products to our customers through customer operations support, proactive obsolescence management, sustainment, and effective collaboration with suppliers. As part of the BAE Systems team, you’ll be working on challenging problems, leading creative engineers, and working to deliver advanced products. The programs you work on may encompass all aspects of product delivery, from design and analysis, through integration, test, and delivery. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering, or Math and 10 years experience
  • Current Secret level of clearance and ability to get SAP/SAR clearances
  • 10 years of engineering development or production experience
  • Experience leading engineering teams in engineering design and production efforts of military EO/IR or optical products.
  • Experience with engineering proposal efforts; generating WBS, BOEs, and leading team through engineering reviews.
  • Knowledge of EVMS, program scheduling, program metrics, and staffing determination
  • Experience leading cross functional/organizational teams and team building

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of space, airborne, or ground acquisition types and programs in the DoD, GEOINT, SIGINT or Communications domains
  • 2+ years of experience leading engineering team in EO/IR, laser communications, and optical signal processing/algorithms efforts for military products.
  • Experience with product development lifecycle for defense products, including 2 years production and sustaining experience.
  • Ability to independently plan, execute, and lead work tasks in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of engineering processes and procedures across all disciplines
  • MS in Science, Engineering, or Math
  • Current TS/SCI

Responsibilities

  • Technical, cost, and schedule leadership and ownership of a project or group of projects working with the program manager and customer, and leading the entire engineering team
  • Managing the project to ensure work scope, schedule, and budget are well defined, maintained, and met
  • Defining, generating, and reviewing project requirements and documentation
  • Providing the coordination between resource managers/supervisors and the program team for staffing needs
  • Support team building and personnel development with the portfolio
  • Ensuring all necessary processes are followed and completed, and all reviews and approvals are received
  • Cost account management interfacing with the engineering team, program management, and finance
  • Coordinating the program engineering work with other stakeholder groups, including operations, quality, contracts, and finance personnel
