About The Position

The EMS Program Educator is responsible for delivering high-quality Emergency Medical Services education programs, including Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Advanced EMT (AEMT) courses in accordance with the Arkansas Department of Health Office of EMS regulations and National EMS Education Standards. This position is designed for an exceptional educator and clinician who is passionate about developing competent, compassionate EMS professionals. The Program Educator will lead classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical education while fostering critical thinking, clinical excellence, and professional behavior among students entering the EMS workforce. The ideal candidate is a dynamic instructor with strong teaching ability, a deep understanding of prehospital medicine, and a commitment to educational excellence and student success.

Requirements

  • Current Arkansas EMS provider license at the AEMT or Paramedic level
  • Current Arkansas EMS Instructor certification
  • Minimum two (2) years continuous experience as an EMS provider prior to instructor certification
  • Successful completion of an Arkansas Office of EMS approved 40-hour EMT Instructor Courseor ability torecivein30 daysfrom hire.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor certification through American Heart Association or ability to receive in30 daysfrom hire.
  • Ability to function as a primary instructor for EMT programs and instructor at AEMT level or higher for AEMT programs as required by Arkansas EMS rules, or ability to receive30 daysfrom hire.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to teach adult learners using evidence-based educational methods
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Graduation From High School or equivalent
  • 19 years old or older at time of hire for insurance purposes
  • ValidDriver’slicense
  • Ability to drive company vehicles with a clean driving record.
  • Availability for recall in times of crisis
  • Ability to pass a lift test of 150 – 200 pounds.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary or adjunct instructor for EMT and Advanced EMT coursesin accordance withArkansas EMS regulations.
  • Deliver engaging classroom lectures, hands-on skills labs, scenario-based simulations, and clinical preparation aligned with theNational Registry.
  • Design and implement effective educational strategies, including simulation, case-based learning, and competency-based assessment.
  • Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and course assessments that meet Arkansas Department of Health EMS program requirements.
  • Ensure all EMS education courses receiveappropriate approvalfrom the Arkansas Office of EMS prior to course delivery.
  • Coordinate andmonitorclinical and field internship experiences with hospitals and EMS agencies.
  • Evaluate student performance using written exams, psychomotor testing, and scenario-based assessments.
  • Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to support student success, professional growth, and clinical competence.
  • Maintainaccuraterecords of student progress, attendance, clinical hours, and competency evaluations.
  • Ensure students meet all course completion requirements necessary to challenge the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) certification examination.
  • Collaborate with theEducationDirector, Medical Director, and EMS leadership tomaintainaccreditation and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in continuous program quality improvement and curriculum development.
  • Promote professionalism, patient safety, ethical practice, and evidence-based EMS care.
  • Represent the program during community outreach, recruitment events, and EMS continuing education programs.
