About The Position

The Program Director is responsible for executing high-quality, engaging, and age-appropriate programs for youth ages 5-18. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in youth development, education, social work, recreation, or a related field; or a combination of education and equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a youth development, education, or social service setting.
  • At least two (2) years of supervisory experience and leading a team.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, implementing, and supervising programs based on youth developmental needs.
  • Ability to deal effectively with members, including discipline problems.
  • Knowledge of positive youth development principles and trauma-informed practices
  • Understanding of mandated child abuse reporting laws and responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven organizational, leadership, staff supervision, and project management abilities.
  • Must pass background checks and meet child safety requirements.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).

  • Experience with Boys & Girls Clubs or similar non-profit organization preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee the administration of programs that support targeted youth development outcomes. and activities.
  • Establish clear program goals and measurable objectives aligned with the organization’s mission, strategic plan, and BGCC standards.
  • Ensure daily program operations meet established quality, safety, and engagement standards.
  • Encourage youth participation across multiple program areas and provide instruction, coaching, and constructive feedback to build skills and confidence.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and safe environment that promotes youth voice, leadership, and personal growth.
  • Model appropriate behavior and demonstrate leadership to ensure proper conduct, safety, and emotional well-being of members.
  • Design, implement, and manage developmentally appropriate programs that meet the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of youth.
  • Ensure all program areas meet health, safety, and risk management standards; maintain safe spaces and functional equipment.
  • Monitor program quality, member engagement, and staff performance to ensure consistent excellence and professionalism.
  • Provide youth with a broad range of academic enrichment, STEM, arts, leadership, and recreation opportunities that complement school-day learning.
  • Prepare timely reports related to program outcomes, participation, and compliance as required by leadership, grant deliverables, and funders.
  • Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training program staff and volunteers to ensure effective program delivery.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development for program staff and volunteers.
  • Support staff in implementing youth development best practices and maintaining high program quality.
  • Foster a collaborative, productive, and youth-centered work environment.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate inventories and oversee proper care of program supplies and equipment.
  • Serve as acting leader in the Club Manager’s absence, ensuring continuity of operations and decision-making.
  • Assist with special events, community outreach activities, and organization-wide initiatives as needed.
  • May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e., Keystone, Youth of the Year)
  • Communicate and collaborate with parents/guardians regarding member progress, behavior, and Club matters.
  • Support general facility upkeep, including light housekeeping, to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Club operations and mission fulfillment.
  • Hours may fluctuate depending on Club needs.
