Note: the Stillwater YMCA will be moving into a brand-new facility in the fall of 2027...it's a very exciting time to be a part of a growing Y team. Salary range: $40,000-$43,000 per year depending on experience. POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Program Director is responsible for the organization, delivery and quality of YMCA programs to the membership community. Specifically, our Membership, Youth and Family and Healthy Living Programs. The Program Director works independently under general direction and is expected to determine how to accomplish tasks. The position requires a college degree and experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • The incumbent also must bring to this position an appropriate background of experience (preferred) to be able to contribute and carry out the Association’s efforts.
  • The incumbent must have the ability to relate effectively to diverse Groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Must stay current in CPR/AED/O2 and First Aid, renewed annually. (Training provided by the Y, if needed)
  • Must complete all required Redwoods Trainings within 30 days of hire and renewed annually.
  • internal candidates must be in good standing (no disciplinary action in the last 6 months) and must get your direct supervisors' approval to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes and incorporates the YMCA four core values and character development model into all program activities
  • Recruits, trains, and develops nonexempt and part-time program staff and volunteers
  • Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information
  • Organizes and schedules program registrations
  • Compiles program statistics
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relations with other community organizations
  • Coordinates use of branch facilities for program activities and events
  • Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with the Association and branch strategic plans
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner
  • Attends all trainings as required for maintaining position
  • Responsible for staff attendance at training
  • Responsible for budget development for program
  • Works with volunteers
  • Maintains records information on past programs
  • Participates on appropriate Association team
  • Develop meaningful and sustainable relationship with members, donors and volunteers.
  • Organizes and oversees program activities
  • Organizes and conducts Teen activities and events
  • Recruits and coordinates volunteers from the local legal and government community
  • Coordinates and monitors Teen and Youth Summer camps
  • Secures facilities for program activities events
  • Coordinates registration and participate in Leaderships conferences
  • Creates and schedules all camp sessions and activities
  • Monitors daily camp operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations
  • Coordinates use of facilities for daily activities
  • Secures facilities and admissions for camp field trips and events
  • Secures and monitors transportation for field trips
  • Purchases and distributes supplies for camp activities
  • Purchases and distributes camp t-shirts
  • Creates and schedules fitness classes
  • Schedules and monitors fitness instructors and personal trainers
  • Maintains accurate record of staff certifications
  • Maintains fitness equipment and facilities
  • Purchases equipment, parts, and supplies as required
  • Coordinates and schedules equipment maintenance repairs
  • Monitors daily operations to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies
  • Performs fitness evaluations for members
  • Performs duties of fitness instructor and personal trainer as required
  • Designs and implements new health and wellness programs
  • Recruits, trains, and develops non-exempt staff
  • Identifies and resolves problem areas to ensure member satisfaction
  • Supervises all membership staff to ensure proper implementation of front desk procedures
  • Implements membership strategies that promote recruitment of new members and retention of existing members
  • Represents the YMCA at community events including health fairs and business expositions (as required) to promote the YMCA
  • Provides consistent member involvement activities for new and existing members
  • Acts as a liaison for members and Executive Branch Director
  • Performs duties of all membership functions in the absence of staff
