Reporting to the Associate Dean of Students in Student Life & Leadership, The Director of the Womxn’s Center for Success is responsible for the overall management, direction, evaluation, and long-term development of the department. The Director collaborates broadly to provide resources, advocacy, and support for UCI women with a strong focus on undergraduate and graduate students, and will also serve the staff and faculty populations. The Director develops departmental goals and objectives, establishes budgetary and program priorities, and identifies future resource needs. More specifically, this position will have director oversight of the co-curricular programs, initiatives, and operations that provide an experiential education around women’s issues and serve as an advocate for women on campus. Management, supervision, and strategic vision are critical to the role. The Director supervises the Assistant Director and Program Coordinator, who provide educational programming on topics of women and gender issues, sexual health, career readiness, safety, and women’s leadership workshops, award ceremonies, conferences, etc. Additionally, the Director is responsible for the daily facility management of the center, determining resources and priorities for the space and usage policies through needs assessments and student focus groups as appropriate.

  • Demonstrated experience working with historically marginalized populations and/or with gender issues.
  • Advanced knowledge with culturally diverse student organizations, student development, student advising, and event planning including demonstrated experience with emerging trends in women and gender programming.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of identity development in a multicultural framework and maintains a knowledge of and commitment to diversity, social justice, and equity.
  • Effective communication skills to establish interpersonal relationships with a variety of staff, faculty, students and off-campus agencies/community groups in a daily work environment.
  • Understanding/exercising professional judgement in interpretation and implementation of University administrative organizations, policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
  • Ability to effectively handle and complete multiple ongoing projects in an environment characterized by frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver assessment projects and reports.
  • Experience supervising career staff and student staff.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • A minimum of five (5) years of practical experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization
  • Advanced knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
  • Master's degree preferred.
