The College Assistance Migrant Program project director is directly responsible for the successful implementation and continuation of the College Assistance Migrant Program grant project. The director will manage and execute all project goals, objectives and activities. Supervise personnel, administer the budget and is responsible for the evaluation of all program activities and services. The position operates under the direct supervision of the Executive Director for the Office of College Access and Academic Enrichment Programs in the Division of Student Affairs at West Texas A&M University.

  • Coordinate and direct all aspects of the College Assistance Migrant Program grant project.
  • Responsible for the evaluation of all program activities and services.
  • Plan and direct the implementation of the College Assistance Migrant Program grant project goals, objectives and activities.
  • Responsible for planning and coordinating all participant workshops, leadership and cultural activities.
  • Supervise, manage and train full time and part-time personnel.
  • Responsible for all recruiting, employing and training processes for new project staff.
  • Responsible for collecting data and submitting the College Assistance Migrant Programs project's annual performance reports and other documentation required by the U.S. Office of Migrant Education.
  • Administer, plan, manage the grants project budget, and conduct administrative functions.
  • Maintain positive relationships with university departments and external constituents.
  • Secure facilities, resources and materials to satisfy project activities and goals.
  • Identify, assess, and provide services for College Assistance Migrant Program participants as needed.
  • Work on special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Serve on various university committees and work groups.
  • Responsible for assisting with the College Assistance Migrant Program grant proposal research and writing.
  • Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree while actively seeking Master's Degree required in education, counseling, social work, higher education administration, or an appropriate field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Education or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with migrant population and/or first generation low-income students, academic support programs, or similar programs for disadvantaged low-income students.
  • Knowledge of academic advising services, development of individualized service plans, and delivery of college, career, financial aid, and economic literacy services.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of administrative organization and management.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assisting with writing and managing federal grants.
  • Experience selecting, training, supervising, and evaluating staff.
  • Good driving record.
  • Master's Degree in education, counseling, social work, higher education administration, or an appropriate field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the areas of staff supervision, budget management, program development and evaluation, reporting and compliance with federal regulations.
  • Professional or personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting Project Participants.
  • Ability to manage and expand program partnerships.
  • Experience with grant writing processes.
