About The Position

The Emergency Shelter Program Director is responsible for overseeing all operations related to the emergency shelter, ensuring that individuals have a safe place to stay while receiving necessary support services. This role involves managing a team, fostering a positive environment, and ensuring compliance with regulations while promoting the well-being of both staff and residents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred)
  • Driver's License (required)
  • Experience in case management and shelter operations
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to engage with diverse populations and build rapport
  • Knowledge of harm reduction and strengths-based approaches
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all case management and peripheral services for up to 49 Emergency Shelter beds.
  • Manage the emergency shelter team, including training, performance evaluations, and fostering professional development.
  • Engage in rapport building with participants and provide service from a 'choice' perspective.
  • Plan and implement a varied day program to support participants' diverse needs.
  • Create and maintain a monthly programming calendar.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual, licensing, and agency policies and regulations.
  • Manage and maintain the safety and cleanliness of the shelter in compliance with health, fire, and safety regulations.
  • Enforce program rules and expectations according to LSA policy.
  • Hire, evaluate, and recommend termination of direct care staff and case managers.
  • Ensure 24-hour staffing and provide shift coverage as required.
  • Provide appropriate supervision of the Emergency Shelter Case Managers and Direct Care Staff.
  • Prepare program data and reports for funders as directed.
  • Attend all meetings/trainings assigned by the Senior Program Director.
  • Review and approve employee timesheets and vacation requests.
  • Facilitate monthly staff meetings and prepare bi-weekly payroll.
