About The Position

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center is proud to announce the development of a new Emergency Medicine Residency Program, set to launch in July 2026. We are seeking an experienced Program Director to lead the ACGME application process and shape the future of Emergency Medicine training on Florida’s West Coast. This is an excellent opportunity to build a high-quality academic program in a thriving community. The program will be based at a 190-bed community hospital known for its consistent excellence in CMS quality metrics, patient safety, and satisfaction. The ideal program director candidate will be passionate about resident education. The position will include direct patient care in our Emergency Department and require the skills for collaborative leadership, clinical education, excellence in administration, interpersonal communication skills, operations, and organization in a supportive training environment.

Requirements

• Board certification by ABEM or AOBEM
• Minimum of 3 years of recent educational and/or administrative experience in an ACGME-accredited program
• Prior Program Director or Associate Program Director experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong background in medical education, scholarly activity, and clinical excellence

Responsibilities

• Lead the 2025 ACGME application and accreditation process
• Build a Graduate Medical Education (GME) program
• Provide part-time administrative leadership (.5 FTE)
• Engage in clinical practice in Emergency Medicine
