Summary of Primary Duties: Reporting to Vice President of the Board of Directors, this position is responsible for balancing the day to day tasks and responsibilities of an Haven House counselor while also providing management support to the Board of Directors by serving as a liaison for communication, identifying key program issues, training staff, developing and maintaining program materials, and implementing process and policy changes as needed.

  • Holding a caseload, conducting individual and group therapy, and completing all related clinical services and documentation.
  • Serving as the Liaison between the Board of Directors and the other Haven House Counselors for all shift callouts and scheduling issues.
  • Coordinating coverage of clinical duties during any counselor call outs or scheduled time off, and making sure that all shifts are covered.
  • Coordinating with the Admissions Supervisor regarding scheduling any Haven House counselors to cover a shift or a day at the Admissions hub if they are in need of clinical support for assessments.
  • Serving as the Liaison between their prospective program (level of care) and the finance team for communication regarding any insurance / authorization matters that pertain to concurrent insurance authorizations and extensions requests in the residential program.
  • Providing general day to day insight and direction to the other Haven House counselors, and when necessary suggesting consultation with the Board of Directors and/or Clinical Supervisor.
  • Reviewing the end of day reports of all other counselors at their prospective program (level of care).
  • Attending and participating in all relevant weekly treatment team meetings and provide any program updates or announcements.
  • Making sure that each Haven House counselor is actively participating in data tracking for their house, including counselor caseload sheets, discharge rosters, and any other data tracking systems managed by each individual Haven House counselor.
  • Assisting in maintaining and ensuring general chart compliance at their prospective Haven House level of care. The Haven House Program Director / Counselor will work closely with the Clinical Supervisor and Quality Assurance team to assist in Peer-To-Peer chart audits, mock surveys, and other audits from regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Gathering and synthesizing Quality Assurance (QA) data from the other Haven House counselors and houses in their prospective programs (level of care) each month and reviewing that data with the QA team.
  • Identifying ongoing training needs and areas in need of improvement regarding clinical service delivery at the Haven House programs and working closely with the Clinical Supervisor to develop and implement training programs that support the development of Haven House staff.
  • Participating in a monthly team meeting with the Haven House management team including the other Leads, Supervisors, and Haven House Directors.
  • Working closely with the Haven House Directors and Clinical Supervisor to provide input and assistance with annual employee performance reviews and Personal Improvement Plans (PIP) as needed.
  • Taking ownership in helping to uphold the clinical and ethical integrity of the Haven House programs and work closely with the Board of Directors and Clinical Supervisor regarding any observed personnel, ethical, or performance issues of Haven House staff.
  • Communicating, training, and implementing any process changes for the other Haven House counselors as by the Board of Directors and Clinical Supervisor.
  • Creating, maintaining, and implementing a first week (5 day) training schedule for any new Haven House counselors being onboarded at their prospective level of care.
  • Creating, maintaining, and implementing the group therapy curriculum at their prospective level of care.
  • Supporting counselor development, including making efforts to provide constructive feedback, implement reward and recognition programs, and schedule and conduct regular displays of counselor appreciation (such as team lunches) as needed.
  • Assisting with hiring and terminating staff when necessary and will directly oversee all staff.
  • Currently approved, certified, or licensed in the State of Maryland to provide SUD treatment services independently or under the supervision of Board Approved Supervisor.
