About The Position

The Humanities Scholars Program (HSP) is seeking a Program Coordinator to support key academic and administrative operations. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to work closely with faculty, students, and campus partners in a vibrant academic environment. Reporting to the Program Manager and Faculty Director, the Program Coordinator plays a central role in the success of the HSP. The Program Coordinator manages the undergraduate application and admissions process, administers research and internship funding, and supports the annual search for postdoctoral associates who contribute to the program’s teaching and mentorship mission.

Requirements

  • An Associate’s degree, 4 - 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication, writing, administrative, and customer service skills required.
  • Sound judgment and ease with both written and verbal contacts with faculty, staff, students, vendors, and administrators throughout Cornell.
  • A keen attention to detail, ability to work independently and to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Experience in graphic design and web maintenance.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as an ability or interest in using Photoshop, InDesign, social media, and any Cornell systems that might be required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the undergraduate admissions process, including communication with applicants and selection committees.
  • Administer research funding and summer internship stipends for program participants.
  • Coordinate annual recruitment of postdoctoral associates, managing application materials and correspondence with committees.
  • Maintain participant databases and track engagement and outcomes for internal and external reporting.
  • Assist the Director with course planning and scheduling, including data entry in Cornell’s course systems.
  • Plan and execute HSP events such as lectures, symposia, and receptions, handling logistics including space reservations, catering, A/V coordination, photography, and vendor payments.
  • Manage event publicity and program communications, including print and digital materials, newsletters, social media, and the program website.
  • Write and edit promotional and impact-focused content such as event previews, articles, and the weekly newsletter.
  • Design and produce marketing materials such as posters, newsletters, and promotional items to highlight program achievements and opportunities.
