About The Position

Caseflow management is a process to monitor the time and events involved in the movement of a case through the court systems from the point of initiation to disposition, and is essential to the timely resolution of cases.  The Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the organization, development, and implementation of caseflow management, following time standards set by Florida Statutes, court rules, and/or administrative orders to assist with the expeditious disposition of pending cases.  This position provides supervision and management oversight of Court Program Specialists, including training, assigning and evaluating work, monitoring and tracking work of staff as required to ensure efficiency and timeliness of completion.  Assigned to work with the judge(s) to help manage cases, including maintaining and supervising court docketing; preparing special orders as required, attending hearings and serving as a liaison between the Judges and Court Administration and the Clerk of Court.  The Program Coordinator also performs case management and coordination of cases; assists in scheduling case management conferences; enters, monitors and keeps a current database on all cases.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in public or business administration, criminal justice, social work or a closely related social science field.
  • Five years of related experience, including extensive knowledge of the Florida State Courts System, civil law and two years of supervisory experience.

  • A Juris Doctorate is preferred.
  • Juris Doctorate may substitute for up to three years of related experience

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the organization, development, and implementation of caseflow management.
  • Works with Judges to help with case management and coordination of cases.
  • Schedules case management conferences.
  • Maintains statistical data and records regarding activities conducted.
  • Maintains accurate records and filings of all work processed.
  • Attends case management conferences, hearings and trials when required.
  • Involves extensive communications with attorneys to resolve problems and expedite case flow.
  • Supervises Court Program Specialists, including assigning and evaluating work, monitoring and tracking work of staff as required to ensure efficiency and timeliness of completion.
  • May perform supervisory duties such as hiring and training of court staff and conduction performance evaluations.
  • Sets hearings and schedule trials; reviews motions; answers procedural questions.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Judges, Court Administration, Clerk of Court, attorneys and members of the public.
  • Timeliness and attendance are essential functions of the job.
