About The Position

The Queens Community Justice Center - The Rockaways seeks a Program Coordinator to oversee the Justice Center's youth programming initiatives which includes community based transformative justice initiatives, interest-based youth programming, social work services, and Alternative to Detention programming. Reporting to the Program Manager of Youth and Justice Initiatives, the Program Coordinator of Youth and Justice Initiatives will be responsible for the development and oversight of new community initiatives and programming, Alternative to Detention work, and transformative justice projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience and experience with program planning and development or a High School Diploma and 5-7 years of experience
  • Strong understanding of community organizing and relationship-building techniques
  • Creative, highly organized, and self-motivated with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable navigating interdisciplinary settings and being hands-on in day-to-day operations
  • In-depth knowledge of best practices in youth work, including leadership development, strengths-based practices, and trauma-informed approaches
  • Administrative experience and experience facilitating group programming with a commitment to holistic and strengths-based approaches
  • Experience working with criminal justice agencies
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and administrative skills
  • Ability to facilitate and effectively manage projects and initiatives
  • Ability to set and adhere to firm timelines
  • Proven ability to collaborate with community stakeholders and partner agencies
  • Experience in community outreach and organizing, with a culturally competent approach to working with diverse populations
  • Knowledge of the Far Rockaway community and youth
  • Comfortable working with youth and young adults

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Program Manager of Youth and Justice Initiatives to develop and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive community outreach plan or youth programs
  • Supervise the Program Associate
  • Manage assigned staff from the youth and justice pod
  • Assist and manage in the recruitment of program participants
  • Manage and execute youth and justice related events
  • Develop and facilitate new youth and justice related programs
  • Develop and implement youth enrichment activities including field trips, retreats, academic enrichment and employment readiness programming
  • Manage youth Alternative to Detention programs, including referrals, court reporting, and maintaining relationships with criminal justice partners
  • Provide administrative support to the program pod team, including assisting with data entry, stipend payments, and contracts
  • Assist with grant writing and fundraising
  • Oversee the administration of strength-based intakes of identified participants' educational and vocational interests and needs
  • Regularly review identified participants' casework and ensure that appropriate follow-up occurs from engagement through comprehensive aftercare
  • Refer families and visitors to appropriate services and resources and respond with innovative solutions when challenges are presented
  • Oversee grant implementation, ensuring all reporting requirements and deliverables are met
  • Meet with community stakeholders and staff routinely to provide updates and troubleshoot issues
  • Identify potential referrals to educational/vocational services
  • Represent the QCJC - The Rockaways at community events and meetings, as requested
  • Develop systems and provide oversight for data tracking, reporting, and fiscal operations
  • Complete all monthly and quarterly reporting in a timely manner
  • Maintain a work culture conducive to innovation and team building
  • Maintain communication with partners and community stakeholders including but not limited to Department of Probation, community benefits partners, and employment partners
  • Provide services in a culturally competent manner that is responsive to the needs of urban youth
  • Additional tasks as necessary
