UVa Housing & Residence Life (HRL) is seeking a Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) for a student facing role within Residence Life. The Residence Life Coordinator will lead, guide, and coach Senior Residents (SRs) who will in turn support our Resident Advisor (RAs). The RLC position is directly supervised by an Assistant Dean. The University of Virginia's Housing & Residence Life's mission is to work collaboratively to create open, welcoming communities where residents are empowered to engage their potential as scholars and leaders through self-governance and participation in their residential community. With close to three million square feet of residential building space, Housing & Residence Life strives to create robust and vibrant residential communities. Specific living and learning programs include language immersion houses, three residential colleges, a comprehensive residential experience. Residential environments comprise a diverse range of architectural styles, including traditional residence halls, suite-style accommodations, and apartment complexes.

  • In collaboration with the assistant dean, develop and grow case management processes in support of the residential experience as outlined in the University's 2030 plan.
  • Review all documented incidents from resident staff members and university police to create cases.
  • Assign cases to professional staff members within Housing and Residence Life for care and support.
  • Contribute to establishing case management strategies that focus on student care and support for residents to thrive.
  • Work with the assistant dean to assess needs, develop outcomes, implement learning opportunities, and evaluate case management initiatives.
  • Monitor and record Housing and Residence Life response team data.
  • Supervise and advise the student leadership team to advise the Resident Staff Accountability Council and other assigned processes.
  • Oversee the Greeters Program, a volunteer initiative that recruits and organizes students, staff, faculty, and alumni to assist first-year students and their families on Move-In Day.
  • Mentor, train, and/or supervise student staff and student leaders, helping students solve problems and respond to challenges.
  • Create and maintain positive professional relationships within the department and across the university.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Bachelor's degree and two years of experience required.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively and interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Master's degree or equivalent in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, or other related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience in residence life, counseling, teaching, and living/learning environments.
  • Case Management experience with an emphasis on residential student care and support.
  • Experience managing a budget or reconciling financial accounts.
  • Experience with program assessment and data-driven decision making.
  • Experience being on-call within a housing & residence life setting.
  • Salary range: $45,000-55,000.
  • Exempt-level position with UVa benefits.
  • Temporary housing may be available to assist with relocation.
