WORK SCHEDULE Full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week) Day Shift Mondays- Fridays 8:30am-5:00pm DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION Located in the Ninth & Jefferson building across from Harborview Medical Center, the Foot & Ankle Center at Harborview provides consultation and surgical treatment for complex foot and ankle reconstruction, including arthritis, deformities, genetic anomalies, sports injuries and traumatic injury. We also offer podiatry services and non-surgical treatments. We partner with our patients to develop an individualized treatment plan that will provide the best outcome for foot and ankle mobility and function. POSITION CAMPUS HIGHLIGHTS Only Level I trauma and burn center in the region Close proximity to public transportation Harborview ranks among the nation's top hospitals in rehabilitation care, neurology, neurosurgery and orthopedics PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBLITIES Clinic Flow Activities: Coordinate patient’s entry into and through the health care system as related to a patient’s disability claims Coordinate and Complete all paperwork and correspondence requirements related to patients’ medically-required absence from work or medically-required work restrictions (i.e. required absence from work post surgery or work restrictions post surgery) Coordinate patient care services and serve as the patient advocate being available to both patient and physician during clinic sessions Facilitate delivery of efficient patient care with coordination of services with the patient medical visit Create clinic-specific policies, procedures, or workflows and adjust as state/payor regulations evolve Patient Care Activities: Interview patients to determine areas of concern and anticipated needs upon reappointments with physicians and outside agencies Ensure the outcome of treatment recommendations for continued care is conveyed to outside consultants from the physicians Revenue and Data Collection: Complete the necessary forms and corresponding billing documentation Collect and regularly report on statistics regarding volume of disability claims, types of disability claims, and corresponding revenue collected Collect and regularly report on statistics regarding FMLA cases (i.e. medically-necessary absence from work due to surgery) o Budget Monitoring: correct L&I billing and reimbursement figures, monitoring patient spend down accounts Customer Service and Team Behaviors: Act as a resource and technical consultant to physicians, RNs, and others on the care team regarding disability claim needs Compose Correspondence and record patient information in the chart Timely Completion of disability and FMLA forms May direct the work of others Within 6 months of hire a new HSC must also: Participate in COHE training Participate in an L&I orientation at L&I headquarters in Tumwater Spend 4 to 8 hours shadowing an experienced HSC at another COHE Obtain an L&I Provider Number in order to bill for his/her time REQUIREMENTS High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience ABOUT HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER As the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine.
