About The Position

The individual will continue managing, coordinating, marketing, and overseeing the growth and clinical/research activities of the MUSC Amyloidosis Center of Excellence. Able to function independently with minimal supervision and perform work with consistent discretion, confidentiality, and good judgment.

Responsibilities

The Manager leads as a liaison for care-team members and advocates for patients.
Navigates patients with minimal input and ensures proper follow-up with relevant sub-specialists, integrating knowledge acquired from an advanced degree to explain the team's medical decision-making and multidisciplinary care.
Works collaboratively with other core members to ensure screening and comprehensive medical records for new referrals are identified and completed for fluid continuation of care and identification of amyloidosis, as misdiagnosis and incorrect medical tests can often occur among this patient population.
Follow policies, guidelines, and HIPAA to carefully enter research and EHR data (various imaging, testing, visits, etc.) for routine data management, which is critical for tracking, study and registry entry (local registries and sponsor websites).
Ensures registries and Excel spreadsheet lists are maintained and shared with amyloid/research team, as needed.
Creation of multiple RedCap databases, design, and coding maintenance that support both the amyloidosis and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy multidisciplinary programs.
Leads in managing, coordinating, and marketing the program and its activities internally within MUSC and externally with industry, organizations, and support groups nationally/internationally.
Manges communication through social media and other sources.
This includes planning the meetings for patient support groups and other relevant events for the patient community (National Amyloidosis Day and World Amyloidosis Day), advocating and joining the amyloidosis community through educational patient events, continued medical education, and organizing/scheduling the bimonthly AL amyloid meetings and bi-annual amyloid meetings of the multi-disciplinary team to develop effective strategies for management of care.
Address current research (IRB) issues and write new protocols for IRB approval and yearly re-approval.
Participates in the first draft of abstracts, posters, and manuscripts/present data in meetings of these new research amyloid projects.
Requires regular reporting of data and maintenance of a registry database for cardiac amyloidosis in addition to reviewing other team coordinator/data entry coordinator's work, if applicable, as the data collection is detailed and involves numerous patients, taking extensive time.
Under the supervision of the amyloid director, serves as a point of contact for healthcare providers, allied associates, and amyloid patients in the community regarding appropriate tests/TTR genetic testing and continuation of care for any pending or abnormal results with the ordering clinician and patient.
Assists with the coordination of the hypertrophic cardiomyopathy programs and their activities.
Provides insight and aids in expediting the execution of cardiology clinical trials for human subjects, specifically involving amyloidosis patients.
This includes tracking recruitment, screening, enrolling, coordinating research visits, and overseeing data entry/maintenance of regulatory documents with the research team.
