About The Position

The North Carolina Department of Justice, led by the Attorney General of North Carolina, represents the state, state agencies, and elected officials, and defends the rights of the people of North Carolina. The Department handles all state criminal appeals cases and assists district attorneys with complex criminal cases at their request. Additionally, the Department of Justice includes the North Carolina State Crime Lab, the North Carolina Justice Academy, and the Sheriffs’ and Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Divisions. Help to carry out the Attorney General’s duty of prohibiting unfair, fraudulent or deceptive business practices. Attempt to informally mediate consumer complaints and concerns filed with the Consumer Protection Division against businesses’ providing consumer products and services. Review and analyze consumer complaints for patterns and trends of possible illegal business practices or other law violations likely to affect consuming public generally. Determine if complaints fall within the jurisdiction of the NCDOJ or should be referred elsewhere. Advise consumers of options available such as legal aid offices, private attorneys, or small claims court if appropriate. Communicate with internal and external personnel via phone, email and written correspondence. Serve as a resource to management and attorneys within the Division. When called upon, participate in workshops, seminars, and other groups held to better educate the consuming public and businesses serving them. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
