Since 1873, the social sorority and fraternity organizations have grown to become a vital part of the University of Kansas history and tradition. Today, the sorority and fraternity community represent over 40 organizations with more than 4,100 students committed to core values such as: Academic Achievement, Civic & Community Engagement, Personal & Professional Development, and Holistic Wellness. Sorority and Fraternity Life (SFL) is an administrative unit of the University that provides support and advocacy for these organizations. The organizations are represented by four different Governing Councils: the Interfraternity Council (IFC), the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), and the Panhellenic Association (PHA). Sorority and Fraternity Life (SFL) has eight full-time professionals and four graduate assistant(s). The Program Coordinator for Leadership Development reports to the Assistant Director for Community Development. The Program Coordinator for Leadership Development assists SFL with its mission to empower members of the sorority and fraternity community in expression of their respective organizations' values through the embodiment of community shared values. As a part of the SFL staff, the Program Coordinator for Leadership Development works to assist SFL in meeting its commitment to support, lead, engage and inform, through program development, community initiatives, implementation, assessment and community promotion. There is a commitment to continued professional development for staff members. The Program Coordinator for Leadership Development is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating leadership development programs of all SFL member organizations. The Program Coordinator also assists in fostering partnerships with internal/external stakeholders, providing harm and safety reduction education, supporting accountability processes for the SFL community, and managing data and records of engaged students.
