About The Position

Through the intentional use of student learning theory and student involvement, this position exists to provide and market recreational involvement opportunities in intramural sports, and special events. Working collaboratively and in conjunction with their supervisor, this position creates, markets, implements, and assesses all intramural and special event programs and services. Responsible for program development, budget management, student employment: supervise (1-2) graduate assistants, (10-20) program assistants, (20-30) sports officials, (5-15) intramural supervisors, budget management, strategic planning and assessment, and administrative functions. This position will contribute to student satisfaction with their collegiate experience by building a sense of campus community, fostering students’ awareness and appreciation for recreation, physical activity, and involvement focused on personal growth, development, and social interaction. Observe and resolve risk management and safety issues and provide 24/7 emergency on-call response as necessary. On call response within 30 minutes. Evening and weekend work required. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), and one-year post-bachelor’s experience or 9 months graduate assistantship experience within recreational or collegiate athletic programming required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Sport Management, Physical Education, or a related field.
  • One year of post-bachelor’s experience, or nine (9) months of graduate assistantship experience, in recreational or collegiate athletic programming.
  • Ability to officiate a variety of intramural sports and provide rule interpretations, game management support, and on-field/court mentorship to new officials.
  • Experience training, supervising, and evaluating sports officials across multiple intramural sport offerings (e.g., basketball, flag football, soccer, volleyball)
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification or ability to obtain within the first 60 days of employment.

  • Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required within 60 days of employment.
