About The Position

Duke University, founded in 1924, is a leading research university located in Durham, North Carolina, within the Research Triangle. This Program Coordinator position's primary responsibility is to plan, coordinate, and administer programs and daily activities for the Divinity School, specifically related to the Pluralism, Free Inquiry and Belonging Initiative, and Transformative Ideas. The role is funded by a grant through December 31, 2028. The Duke Divinity School is committed to academic excellence, interdisciplinary inquiry, and public engagement, fostering rigorous scholarship, thoughtful dialogue, and engagement with complex social, religious, and cultural issues.

Requirements

  • Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
  • Work requires one year of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Nice To Haves

  • MA/PhD strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with academic humanities programming, especially interdisciplinary activities

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site support and coordination at events, including student reading groups, lectures, informal talks, AV, Canvas, and course material support, including Duke Divinity School immersive Hybrid week.
  • Assist with leading and coordinating a new summer residential seminar for underprivileged high school students.
  • Assist with planning and executing university-wide Initiative on Pluralism, Free Inquiry, and Belonging.
  • Responsible to plan, promote, and support student-facing meetings, lectures, and events.
  • Coordinate visiting speakers, promote public events in the local community and more widely through communications support.
  • Assistance with co-curricular activities related to courses and leading small-group discussion sections for lecture courses.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
