About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno Honors College is accepting applications for a part-time hourly position (Letter of Appointment) of Program Coordinator. The Honors College Disruptive Innovations Program Coordinator plays a central role in advancing a high-impact, experiential learning initiative focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, and creative problem-solving. Reporting to the Honors College Dean, the Program Coordinator provides day-to-day operational leadership for the program, ensuring seamless logistics, strong student support, and effective coordination of academic, co-curricular, and community-based programming. This position serves as a key connector among students, faculty, visiting experts, the Disruptive Innovations Advisory Board, and campus and community partners. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with the following related experience: Experience in program coordination, student support, higher education, entrepreneurship, innovation, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators, and external partners.
  • Demonstrated interest in innovation, entrepreneurship, and experiential learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience coordinating events, workshops, or visiting speakers.
  • Familiarity with interdisciplinary or honors education environments.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving program that values creativity, initiative, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Program Operations & Logistics Coordinate all logistical aspects of the Disruptive Innovations Program, including scheduling, event planning, space reservations, travel arrangements, and communications.
  • Manage operational support for immersive, hands-on innovation experiences where students ideate, collaborate, and prototype solutions alongside peers and mentors.
  • Oversee logistics related to program funding, including stipends, start-up materials, and specialized trainings that enable students to advance projects beyond the conceptual stage.
  • Student Support & Engagement Provide direct support to students participating in the program, serving as a primary point of contact and resource.
  • Guide students into relevant coursework and co-curricular opportunities, including interdisciplinary courses focused on innovation cycles, intellectual property, and entrepreneurial skills.
  • Support student teams as they navigate program milestones, mentorship opportunities, and project development.
  • Visiting Faculty and Experts-in-Residence Recruit, onboard, and support Visiting Faculty and Experts-in-Residence, including innovators, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders.
  • Coordinate lectures, workshops, mentorship sessions, and short-term residencies that bring real-world expertise into the Honors College.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to visiting contributors, ensuring a high-quality and well-integrated experience for both students and guests.
  • Partnerships & Collaboration Coordinate with campus units, faculty, and community and industry partners to support the overall mission and strategic goals of the Disruptive Innovations Program.
  • Work directly with the Disruptive Innovations Advisory Board.
  • Facilitate collaboration across academic and co-curricular environments to strengthen experiential learning and innovation pathways.
  • Assist with assessment, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts for the program.
