About The Position

We seek a dynamic person to act as the Program Coordinator and primary student liaison for a large 40-60 person science team (NSF NRT LinQ), involving faculty, graduate students, campus partners, industrial and national lab partners, and connections across St. Louis schools. This role entails helping to coordinate the design and execution of professional development programs, plan recruitment strategies, set up internship opportunities with partners, coordinate professional development skills training, and act as primary author for the NSF annual reports. In addition, through A&S Office of Grad Studies (OGS), there will be a recruiting role for graduate students in A&S STEM-focused areas aligned with NRT LinQ. The role will involve oversight and approval of budget items, ensuring goals of the grant are met, communicating with Trainees and Participants and faculty weekly, and planning events such as meetings and symposia. Recruiting a diverse graduate student pool is a key area we are devoted to pursuing. This is a time-limited position of up to June 30, 2027.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
  • Relevant experience of 3 years.

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment for NSF Research Traineeship graduate program and A&S OGS programs.
  • Contact advisors and faculty from around the country to identify excellent applicants.
  • Distribute informational materials about the program and work to increase recruitment of students from traditionally under-represented groups.
  • Attend national and regional meetings and approach schools to recruit for graduate programs.
  • Ensure student applicants have necessary information for application submission.
  • Help develop an assessment tool to gauge student background preparation for the program.
  • Communicate with applicants during the application and admission process.
  • Organize, analyze, and archive evaluation data.
  • Draft program evaluation reports and deliver evaluation presentations.
  • Assist faculty and graduate coordinators with student activities.
  • Coordinate student activities including organizing trainee events.
  • Initiate the process for research project selection.
  • Coordinate learning opportunities such as summer/winter bootcamps.
  • Schedule team meetings and ensure timely communication.
  • Manage program organization, record keeping, report writing, and budget management.
  • Track program expenditures and support the PI’s oversight of the project budget.
  • Travel to Washington, DC to engage with other NRT programs.
  • Identify and communicate with internship partners.
  • Curate a catalog of internship topics and coordinate logistics.
  • Design and produce printed informational materials and maintain the program website.
  • Travel for program advertising and recruitment of trainees.
