About The Position

USRA is seeking an experienced Intern Program Coordinator for a full-time exempt position to support the Education Programs Office (EPO) located in Houston, TX and multiple Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) facilities located across the United States. The successful candidate will have demonstrated abilities in administering project planning, tracking, logistics, and compliance for government-funded programs focused on promoting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Program Manager, the Intern Program Coordinator will assist with the implementation of the AFRL Scholars Program at Kirtland Air Force Base (AFB), Eglin AFB, Edwards AFB, Wright-Patterson AFB, and other AFRL sites. This position requires extensive travel to multiple AFRL sites, predominantly during the months of April through August to provide in-person support for program activities. Travel in support of recruitment events occurs during the months of September through December.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in education, business management, administration, or related degree required.
  • 3-5 years relevant experience of successful experience administering educational programs.
  • High degree of communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to secure a government security background investigation at the Secret Security Clearance level.
  • Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and transition easily between complex projects requiring simultaneous attention.
  • Possess a high degree of flexibility and ability to maintain professional and effective public relations during daily communications with USRA staff, management, and AFRL Program Managers.
  • Excellent professional and technical written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop relationships and create effective solutions to communication problems.
  • Assimilate, analyze, delegate, and respond to daily contractual, technical, and business operations issues.
  • This position receives direct supervision from USRA’s Senior Program Manager. Task/activity priorities and policies are set by management. Work is defined and guidelines provided with a fair degree of latitude.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends, as necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and its applications.
  • Up to 50% travel. This position requires extensive travel throughout the year to provide in-person support at AFRL facilities across the United States and attend recruitment events.

Responsibilities

  • Support USRA management in all aspects of program administration including program planning, data gathering, analysis, development, communication, status tracking, implementation, documentation, monitoring, and follow-up, associated with the AFRL Scholars Program goals and objectives, and other workforce development programs as assigned by the Senior Program Manager and Director of Education.
  • Support on-site Intern Program Coordinators with the selection, placement, and onboarding of program participants including provision of pre-arrival logistics, enrichment events and exit activities.
  • Consistently interface with program stakeholders to include: USRA management, AFRL Program Managers, mentors, external partners, and program participants.
  • Attend in-person recruitment events throughout the year to promote the AFRL Scholars Program.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of reports, ad hoc data calls, and other deliverables associated with the AFRL Scholars Program and other USRA Workforce Development initiatives.
  • Participate in required meetings, activities, and related projects.
  • Follow through on action items generated from program team meetings.
  • Perform special projects as requested by USRA management.
