The American Heart Association has an opportunity for a Program Consultant, Health Care Quality. This position can be home-based. Preferred location in eastern time zone.
This is a full time, benefits eligible, grant funded opportunity. Current funding will expire on 3/1/2027, with the possibility of extension.
The Program Consultant, Health Care Quality will be responsible for the implementation of outpatient quality programs (Target: BP, Check. Change. Control. Cholesterol., Target: Type 2 Diabetes) aimed at improving care in patients with cardiovascular disease. Responsible for development and deployment of clinical practice resources, presentations, and programmatic offerings. Responsible for creation of strategic and innovative solutions for driving growth and scale of existing and new core programs. This position will also work closely with several different departments within the national office to ensure success.

Requirements

• 3 years of related experience.
• 3 years of project management experience including creation and adherence to timelines, and communication with team members and stakeholders.
• Highly skilled in clinical resource development including creation of engaging presentations, infographics, tutorials, and various professional education documents.
• Experience in outpatient health care or public health, including clinical, quality improvement, program development, and systems of care improvement.
• Comfortability with clinical quality measures, process improvement, and leveraging data for actionable quality improvement solutions.
• Strong written, verbal and presentation skills (both live and virtual) with proficiency in applications including but not limited to PowerPoint, Word, Canva, Microsoft Teams/Outlook.
• Understanding of foundational concepts in data storytelling and identifying trends with intermediate comfortability with Excel and other data reporting tools and platforms.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively engage with volunteers to increase motivation and participation.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time, including overnight stays.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
• Lean Six Sigma or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Experience in the outpatient medical field, with a focus on healthcare quality or clinical settings.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement program strategies, serving as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders for the purposes of comprehensive resource development and education.
• Engage with clinical leadership to ensure best practices and quality improvement through initiatives including but not limited to: Target: BP, Check. Change. Control. Cholesterol, and Target: Type 2 Diabetes. Support policy or system changes to ensure the best population health outcomes.
• Plans, consults, and conducts the analysis of clinical business problems to be solved with clients, and/or programs/products.
• Operationalizes and executes tasks associated with the collection and reporting of program data through communication and collaboration with staff and external customers and vendors.
• Lead the implementation of quality improvement projects to help outpatient healthcare providers treat cardiovascular disease in alignment with the organization's guidelines, providing consultation, support, and process mapping to identify improvement opportunities.
• Work cross-functionally within the organization to identify opportunities for collaboration and synergies to most effectively execute American Heart Association priority initiatives.
• Lead national virtual workgroups for the development of concepts and programmatic opportunities related to outpatient quality improvement.
• Communicate project progress with leadership, manage cross-functional teams, and ensure project deliverables are met according to timelines.
