About The Position

The Program Director provides strategic and hands-on leadership for programs that develop people—staff, interns, and volunteers—while strengthening workforce pathways that support the Brockton community and the YMCA’s mission. This role oversees internship programs, volunteer engagement, staff onboarding, and career development pathways across multiple program areas that support member retention and recruitment. She/he will provide friendly, courteous, and prompt service to all members, clients, and volunteers of the Y. S/he will accept and display the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Additionally remains focused on supporting YMCA philanthropic efforts and sharing opportunities for engagement and outcomes with members, participants, and community members.

Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age with 1-2 years of related experience.
  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office necessary.
  • Must be physically able to drive, lift and move objects (at least 45 lbs) for special events and normal business functions.
  • Must be available to work a varied schedule as business functions demand.

Responsibilities

  • Design and manage career pathway programs that support entry-level roles across the following YMCA career tracks (Health and Wellness, Events, Clubs and Programs, Facilities and KidZone)
  • Partner with other branch leadership to align workforce development efforts with grant funded initiatives, community collaborations and staffing needs
  • Identify and implement training and continuous improvement plans for interns, volunteers and staff.
  • Track outcomes related to training and hiring pipelines
  • Develop, implement, and oversee internship programs that provide meaningful, skill-building experiences aligned with YMCA career pathways.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local colleges, high schools, workforce agencies, and community organizations.
  • Supervise interns, coordinate mentors, and evaluate intern performance and program impact.
  • Support interns’ transition into YMCA employment opportunities when appropriate.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and support YMCA volunteers in alignment with branch needs and community impact goals.
  • Create clear volunteer roles, expectations, and leadership opportunities.
  • Ensure volunteers feel welcomed, supported, and connected to the YMCA mission.
  • Maintain compliance with YMCA policies related to volunteer screening, documentation, training, and supervision.
  • Lead or support branch onboarding processes to ensure new staff are welcomed, trained, and set up for success.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to create consistent onboarding experiences across program areas.
  • Support ongoing professional development, coaching, and mentorship opportunities.
  • Promote a culture of learning, feedback, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a liaison to community workforce partners, schools, and employment organizations in Brockton.
  • Represent the YMCA at community meetings, job fairs, and workforce initiatives.
  • Advance the YMCA’s role as a career-launching and talent-development organization within the community.
  • Maintain accurate records related to interns, volunteers, and workforce development participants.
  • Ensure all programs comply with YMCA policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Prepare reports, data, and insights for branch and association leadership.
  • Attend and participate in all Association Team meetings and trainings applicable to your role
  • Meet with supervisor weekly and as directed.
  • Meet as needed with other branch leadership
  • Hold monthly staff meetings with program staff.
  • Supervise, train and evaluate staff and volunteers following OCY standards and guidelines.
  • Ensure collection of payments according to OCY policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all fiscal policies and procedures such as purchase orders, employee expense and grant funding sources.
  • Assist with the development of the program budgets.
  • Achieve the highest level of cleanliness by cleaning and/or inspecting areas that programs use each day.
  • Through the use of the facility cleanliness checklist, assist in monitoring the cleanliness of the facility.
  • Responsible for inventory of program supplies and assets.
  • Repair or replace equipment when needed.
  • To actively participate and provide leadership for the Y’s annual Campaign.
  • To promote Y programs through public appearances and presentations.
  • Be an active member of relevent affinity groups as assigned.
  • Be an active member in the Brockton Branch all staff team
