About The Position

To coordinate and perform a wide variety of department/exhibition program activities that will increase efficiency, expedite/coordinate the work of others, and ensure the smooth operation of the department.

Requirements

  • Associates or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two plus years of office experience in a related field, with some autonomy
  • In-depth knowledge of office procedures
  • Strong organizational skills, and time management
  • Proficient with computer applications including Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to handle communications for international artists in a confidential and professional manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professional poise

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates a variety of activities to support department and program functions.
  • Updates and maintains department website within website template and departmental guidelines.
  • Oversees the hiring and scheduling of student gallery attendants and models.
  • Assists with monitoring and ordering department supplies.
  • Assists with coordinating prospective student tours with the SART interns.
  • Assists the Chair with Admissions Portfolio Reviews
  • Assists and arranges shipping for more than twenty shipments per year for the Exhibition Program.
  • Manages the Artist-in-Residence apartment.
  • Assists Exhibitions Director and Department Administrator with required paperwork and materials for the Artist-in-Residence.
  • Assists with the production of 4 - 6 catalogs per year for the Exhibition Program.
  • Manages the Studio Art Department general email account.
  • Maintains the alumni list.
  • Responsible for writing press releases for the Exhibition Program.
  • In the absence of the department/program administrator, records minutes, and prepares documents for Chair review and distribution.
  • Assists with promotion and outreach to the Dartmouth community for each Artist-in-Residence.
  • Creates and distributes the Studio Art faculty newsletter each term.
  • Maintains cognizance of working within a diverse community and enhancing diversity and acts professionally with all communications.
  • Assists with the organization of events in the department including, coordination of catering, reserving space, and set up/break down of department events as needed.
  • Provides support to exhibit installation and deinstallation.
  • Manages complex projects requiring two to three years advanced planning for 15 -20 annual exhibitions in multiple galleries.
  • Coordinates itineraries and orients each new artist-in-residence.
  • Assists with additional events and programming as needed.
  • Maintains computerized archival files on all artists-in-residence, exhibitions, mailing lists and publicity for the Exhibition Program.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
