About The Position

The Program Associate II at Rutgers University-Newark is responsible for supporting the Center for PreCollege Programs, which aims to educate and prepare students for success in secondary and post-secondary education. This role involves administrative tasks, program acquisition, and outreach activities, requiring strong organizational and communication skills. The position also includes supervising student staff and volunteers, planning events, and may require evening and weekend hours.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of Precollege programming.
  • Must possess a valid NJ driver's license and access to a properly registered vehicle.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and organizational skills are required.
  • Strong service orientation and ability to interact effectively with students, educators, staff, and parents.
  • Computer literate with basic math skills; familiar with Excel and Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience with low-income, first-generation populations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Precollege programming.

Responsibilities

  • Perform professional work to support the program, requiring knowledge of acquisition and general administrative/office management practices.
  • Use strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Responsible for all aspects of programming acquisition.
  • Order and create requisitions for supplies, conferences, programming, and activities.
  • Assist in training, supervising, evaluating, scheduling, and collecting time reports of work-study student staff and volunteers.
  • Assist in campus outreach activities and data tracking.
  • Plan and attend special events.
