About The Position

The Enrollment Outreach Specialist plays a vital role in recruiting and retaining students within the Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD). This position focuses on developing and implementing strategies to help schools meet their enrollment goals while providing direct support to families navigating the enrollment process. The specialist will work closely with various stakeholders, including school staff and community organizations, to enhance recruitment efforts and ensure a positive experience for families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • At least two years of community outreach or organizing experience, ideally in a school or youth-focused environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high customer service standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience managing large groups of clients for successful enrollment.
  • Exceptional follow-up and follow-through skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours, including weekends or evenings.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable access to a car for travel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to schools to grow and maintain enrollment.
  • Implement school-level enrollment outreach strategies and provide training and resources.
  • Build relationships with community leaders and organizations to serve as advocates for the school.
  • Coordinate with school staff to execute recruitment strategies and manage events.
  • Engage families and support them in navigating the enrollment process through various communication methods.
  • Develop written communication for families and stakeholders to clarify the enrollment process.
  • Track data from outreach activities to measure impact and improve initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Enrollment team to creatively engage families.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
