THE OPPORTUNITY Who you will work with The Program Assistant works across the U.S. Jewish Grantmaking team under the supervision of the Senior Program Officer, U.S. Jewish Grantmaking. Where and how you will work Schusterman employees work a weekly hybrid schedule with a mix of in-office time and work-from-home flexibility. For this role, you’ll need to be based in our Washington, DC or New York, NY offices. The U.S. Jewish Grantmaking Team also comes together in-person at the Washington, D.C. office as well as field-wide convenings and events monthly, so the ability to travel to these is required. This is a full-time position. Please note that Schusterman does not cover relocation expenses for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience.
  • Effective verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills necessary to develop cooperative and effective working relationships with team members, grantees, vendors, and other philanthropic partners.
  • A strong, detailed work ethic and capacity to complete assignments in a timely, organized, and efficient manner.
  • A high degree of flexibility to achieve organizational objectives and meet its demands/needs.
  • Analytical and research abilities necessary to use data to assist with development of strategic decisions.
  • Proven skill and comfort in prioritizing, multi-tasking and efficiently delivering high-quality work product.
  • PC skills (with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel , and PowerPoint), as well as a thorough knowledge and comfort level of basic web skills required.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time, including occasional overnight trips

Responsibilities

  • Assist the U.S. Jewish Grantmaking team by conducting due diligence, landscape scans and research on prospective grantees and other organizations in the field.
  • Provide support on evaluation, learning and data collection and analysis.
  • Create and manage project timelines for convenings and internal team meetings and retreats.
  • Represent Schusterman Family Philanthropies at various conferences, meetings, and site visits.
  • Other special projects and duties as assigned.
  • Assist the U.S. Jewish Grantmaking team with drafting and facilitating approval of internal-facing memos, grant agreements and award letters, maintaining final grant agreements, administering grants, and preparing and sending monthly reports of such grants.
  • Enter grants into SFP's integrated grants management software application, facilitate the online processing of grants, grant documentation, reports, and payments, and serve as the point of contact to grantees related to such documents.
  • Create and maintain category and coding within SFP's grants management system.
