The USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences is seeking a Program Assistant in the Institute for Ethics and Trust in Computing. The largest and oldest of the USC schools, USC Dornsife functions as the academic core of the university, offering courses and advancing knowledge across the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. The Institute for Ethics and Trust Computing, part of the USC Frontiers of Computing initiative, is a new institute that aims to engaging with emerging computing technologies in a way that promotes public trust and societal well being. It is a cross-disciplinary institute that will bring together researchers from across the university, as well as fostering collaborations with industry and engaging in public outreach. Its co-directors are John Hawthorne, Provost Professor of Philosophy and Linda MacDonald Hilf Chair in Philosophy and Yan Liu, Professor in the Thomas Lord Department of Computer Science and Director of the USC Machine Learning Centre. The successful applicant will assist with the running of the institute including planning conferences, workshops and colloquia, maintaining an institute website, keeping records of collaborative research sponsored by the institute, providing administrative support for grant applications, and performing other related duties as assigned or requested. The position can be hybrid, though some on campus presence will be required. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time. Desirable qualifications Experience coordinating academic events, workshops, or conferences, including logistics such as travel arrangements, accommodations, catering, and event scheduling. Familiarity with university administrative processes, including budget tracking, reimbursement procedures, and internal funding request or approval workflows. Experience with website maintenance and social media and other public-facing communications. Strong organizational skills and written communication skills Comfort handling financial information with accuracy and discretion. Interest in or familiarity with ethics, technology policy, and AI governance. The hourly rate range for this position is $23.52 - $28.40.
