About The Position

The Program Assistant is responsible for assisting with the oversight of a single program or multiple programs by working with the program coordinator and community partners with inquiries, applications, presentations, and general coordination of the program.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of social work programs and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate office equipment including telephone, copy machine, fax machine, computer, and calculator.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business Administration, Social Work, Behavioral Sciences, Psychology, Geriatric Studies, or a related field, or at least (2) years of experience in administrative or service positions in aging programs, healthcare, or family caregiver support program.
  • A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Work with community members to explain program and eligibility requirements.
  • Meet with community members to assist with applications with the program(s).
  • Conduct information sessions.
  • Plan, collaborate, and coordinate implementation of events for the program and service projects.
  • Promote interest in opportunities for programs; make presentations to varied community gatherings of older adults, retirement communities, etc.; organize and facilitate information sessions; post information and update volunteers.
  • Manage community resource obligations.
  • Other duties as assigned
