About The Position

Student Wellness seeks an energetic, outgoing, and creative part-time Program Assistant (PA) to work 10-15 hours per week during the Spring-2026 academic year. The position will work as part of a dynamic team to assist with program planning and implementation across various health topics for the student population at Carolina. Program Assistants are responsible for assisting with topical workshop requests ( ie, Health Promotion, Dimensions of Wellness, Resiliency, Substance Use 101, Decisions, Sleep, nutrition, stress management, etc.), annual campus-wide programming (FallFest, Week of Welcome, Safetoberfest, Spring Carnival, LDOC , etc.), regular tabling events (departmental or topic promotions), and other department support as requested. Work will generally be scheduled between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours. Work hours are flexible and will accommodate class/academic schedules.

Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible 15 hours per week throughout the Spring academic semester (January-June), including the potential for some evening and weekend hours.
  • Passion for providing student-centered, positive customer service.
  • Ability to work in teams and to maintain effective professional relationships.
  • Ability to work independently, manage a variety of tasks, follow-up on assignments, and take initiative on projects ( time and project management proficiency ).
  • Flexibility to work across disciplines to produce effective health promotion and prevention initiatives on campus.
  • Comfort working in a dynamic co-working space with a diverse team to accomplish departmental goals.
  • Excitement for working as a team across health topic areas towards a more integrated, equitable and holistic wellness approach.

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent skills in program facilitation, education/outreach, and communication.
  • Experience using public health, social change, and high-impact educational frameworks when developing and implementing programs and communications.
  • Understanding of health equity concepts across a variety of programs & services.
  • Capacity to cultivate culturally competent and inclusive spaces for students to explore sensitive health topics.
  • Program planning, development, and evaluation analysis of qualitative/quantitative data.
  • Group facilitation, engagement and presenting to diverse populations.
  • Topic specific knowledge (i.e. stress management, mindfulness, sleep hygiene, sexual health & relationship education, alcohol & other drugs prevention, nutrition, and/or other health related topics).
  • Work respectfully and effectively with students of various ages, cultures, and backgrounds.
