Helen Keller International is seeking Program Assistants for its Vision Program, which aims to address the lack of accessible vision care among low-income adults and children in the United States. The Vision Program, formerly known as ChildSight®, has been operational since 1994 and has provided free vision screenings to over 2.2 million individuals, along with prescription eyeglasses to more than 375,000 people. The Program Assistant will be part of dynamic implementation teams that serve targeted communities, working to ensure that individuals receive the vision care they need. In this role, the Program Assistant will be responsible for traveling to schools and other host locations within target communities, bringing along the necessary materials to conduct program activities. They will partner with representatives at these locations to set up and break down the space for program operations. The assistant will conduct various on-site processes, including vision screenings, refraction assessments, eyeglass selection and ordering, and the assembly and distribution of eyeglasses. Additionally, they will complete all required program paperwork in accordance with program guidelines. The Program Assistant will also play a crucial role in promoting follow-up eye care by conducting educational sessions for program participants and their families about vision health and potential difficulties. Building and maintaining relationships with key program partners is essential for gathering information and collecting data on participants. The assistant will be responsible for collecting and summarizing results from impact surveys and sharing these results with their supervisor. Adherence to HIPAA policies and procedures is critical, as is maintaining program files and records to ensure compliance.
