About The Position

The Program Assistant serves as the primary coordinator for Brain Balance and elective sessions within the Multiple Sclerosis Achievement Center (MSAC). This position works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to create a positive, empowering environment for program participants. The Program Assistant provides daily support for all MSAC sessions, including physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), lunch programming, Brain Balance, and elective activities. This role requires hands-on participant assistance, coordination of program logistics, and active engagement in program delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Greet participants upon arrival and document attendance.
  • Disseminate program information and assist with communication, including contacting transportation providers.
  • Provide direct support to participants throughout the day, including assistance with transfers, accessing exercise equipment, restroom transfers, emptying catheter bags, opening food containers, and gathering belongings at the end of the day.
  • Assist members during lunch; ensure lunch areas are set up in advance and cleaned at the conclusion of the lunch period.
  • Prepare the facility for program activities, including setting up tables, portable chairs, exercise equipment, and food preparation tools.
  • Restock supplies and clean equipment before and after participant use.
  • Clean and organize the facility at the end of each program day.
  • Assist therapists and occupational therapy students (12-week rotations) in supporting participants to meet individualized goals.
  • Assist with morning warm-ups and therapeutic or recreational activities.
  • Track and document attendance and recreation activities for all participants.
  • Fill in to lead recreation groups or elective sessions as needed.
  • Work closely with occupational therapy students and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Provide support to team members and assist with Board of Directors interactions as appropriate.
  • Participate in monthly member assessments and staff meetings.
  • Assist with development and implementation of new MSAC programs and services.
  • Facilitate and support special projects as assigned.
