About The Position

The Program Assistant I, will review and analyze license applications and associated documentation related to the healthcare provider licensure. Provides support and assistance to applicants and licensees regarding standards and qualifications of licensure; communicates effectively with applicants, licensees, and the general public, manages ancillary functions secondary to licensing e.g. supervision status. Furthers the BMOE mission to protect the health and welfare of the state's citizens by assuring that only qualified healthcare providers are licensed to practice in South Dakota. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: A background where deadlines and detail are mission critical. Working within a financial, accounting, bookkeeping, or banking organization preferred.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Licensing and regulatory process
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations - specifically healthcare field concepts
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures
  • Knowledge of requirements and due process
  • Knowledge of applicable state laws and administrative rules
  • Knowledge of resources useful to the healthcare field
  • Knowledge of data system principles and web navigation techniques
  • Ability to search, navigate, and enter data into electronic systems
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to work under and produce work product under extremely tight deadline
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, on the phone, and through electronic means
  • Ability to resolve conflicts quickly and in a constructive manner
  • Ability to effectively manage a large workload and quickly prioritize and perform more than one task at the same time
  • Ability to use inductive and deductive reasoning
  • Ability to understand, distinguish, and apply principles, techniques, policies, procedures, and law to situations in a consistent fashion
  • Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records and documentation as is done in a financial or account position
  • Ability to show initiative, make decisions, and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public
  • Ability to work positively and effectively in a fast paced environment with limited resources
