About The Position

The Program Assistant (Educational Talent Search & Upward Bound) position is a temporary role that involves working in person with over 180 students at target middle and/or high schools. The role includes conducting outreach, recruitment, and program enrollment, with travel to the schools required three to four days per week. The position is part of a commitment to social justice, aiming to improve academic success for students from historically underserved backgrounds. The role is crucial in creating environments that promote academic achievement and close equity gaps.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience performing responsible administrative duties in a related program.
  • Possession of a high school diploma/GED or equivalent plus additional coursework in a related field.
  • Must not have unresolved financial issues with the U.S. Department of Education.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of administrative support functions to assist in coordinating a student services program on assigned campus.
  • Prepare correspondence, memos, and statistical materials; answer phones.
  • Compile data from various sources for statistical reports, student data reports, and compliance with financial and legal program requirements.
  • Review applications or other program documents to determine acceptance.
  • Process eligibility and services for categorical programs in compliance with Title 5 regulations.
  • Award and disburse support services such as book vouchers and meal tickets.
  • Arrange, schedule, and assist in the development of training programs for faculty, staff, and managers.
  • Assist students with navigating college processes and provide referrals to auxiliary resources.
  • Prepare and maintain records and files related to student contacts and services.
  • Participate in and facilitate special events and activities as needed.
  • Promote the program through outreach and associations with high schools and community groups.
