About The Position

The Program Analyst position within the Department of Defense focuses on enhancing submarine officer and watch-team performance through expert training and mentorship. The role involves evaluating training products, partnering with Commanding Officers, and providing strategic guidance in submarine operations. The analyst will also conduct assessments of training quality and serve as a senior advisor in strategic weapons system employment.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
• Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required.
• At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-3 (GS-13 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Responsibilities

• Identify submarine officer and watch-team performance shortfalls.
• Provide expert review of submarine SWS training products, lectures, and curricula.
• Partner with learning site Commanding Officers in evaluating officers taking the Qualification for Command assessment.
• Attend briefs and embarks on SSBNs to maintain knowledge and proficiency in underway submarine operations.
• Conduct periodic visits to SWS learning sites to assess training quality and provide training for submarine crews and training staffs.
• Provide expertise in teaching strategic training content to prospective Commanding Officers and Executive Officers in the SWS Command Replacement/Submarine Command Courses.
• Serve as a Senior Advisor and Mentor for SSBN Commanding Officers in the area of Strategic Weapons System (SWS) employment.
