About The Position

The Early College Department at Madison College is seeking a Program Advisor to provide comprehensive academic advising and case management support for an assigned program, with an emphasis on student enrollment, persistence, and achievement. This role delivers individualized advising, coordinates student-centered initiatives, and partners with campus departments to identify and reduce barriers to student success. The Program Advisor plays a key role in advancing institutional goals by supporting retention, promoting equitable access to resources, and fostering student-centered practices, while guiding students through course completion and, when applicable, supporting their pursuit of short-term technical diplomas or industry-recognized credentials.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree and equivalent relevant work experience. Experience used as an equivalent of an educational requirement is in addition to any experience required by the position.
  • Work Experience: 0-2 years of relevant and professional work experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of academic advising principles, including course planning, transfer pathways and student support strategies.
  • Knowledge of institutional policies, student services and external support systems that impact student enrollment, persistence and success.
  • Skill in applying case management strategies to support students navigating academic, personal or financial challenges.
  • Skill in facilitating student workshops, presentations and events.
  • Skill in documenting advising interactions and tracking student progress.
  • Ability to manage multiple processes, meet deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skill in engaging positively with all populations and communities, contributing to a safe and inclusive learning and work environment.
  • Skill in effectively and respectfully communicating with others.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individualized academic, career and transfer advising to support student goal setting, course selection and long-term educational planning.
  • Delivers case management and retention support through proactive monitoring, early intervention and referrals to internal and external resources to address barriers to student success.
  • Coordinates and implements student-facing events, workshops and orientations to promote program engagement and increase student preparedness.
  • Supports recruitment and enrollment efforts by delivering outreach presentations, participating in placement and onboarding processes and guiding students through institutional procedures.
  • Collaborates with internal departments and external partners to improve access, resolve student concerns and ensure alignment with institutional and partner requirements.
  • Leads or contributes to cross-functional projects and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen student support practices and enhance advising effectiveness.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and reporting to support grant and/or MOU compliance, institutional accountability and informed decision-making.
  • Exercises independent judgment to resolve complex advising scenarios and uphold policies while adapting to diverse student needs and learning environments.
  • Contributes to an inclusive, equitable and supportive environment where everyone at the institution feels valued, respected and empowered to reach their full potential.
  • Adheres to college policies, directives and work rules while maintaining a commitment to the college’s mission, vision and values.
  • Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.
