About The Position

The Program Administrator will support and facilitate biological research aimed at the rapid detection of infectious diseases and enhance global disease surveillance. This role is critical in ensuring the effective operation of the Molecular Diagnostics Department at Fort Detrick, MD, focusing on the detection of biological threat agents.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant administrative field or biological sciences.
• 3 years of practical experience in research program administration of biological sciences.
• Experience in executing complex laboratory programs, including laboratory operations and project management.
• Proficient in procurement of laboratory supplies and reagents.
• Ability to assist the principal investigator with the preparation of SOPs and other relevant lab/project documents.
• Experience in interfacing with support offices such as technology transfer, safety, budget, travel, legal, security, and facilities.
• Must currently possess or be able to pass all criteria for Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Supports research and development of molecular diagnostics.
• Manages reagent production and quality management.
• Develops real-time polymerase chain reaction assays.
• Conducts molecular assay development and platform test evaluations.
• Provides and evaluates proficiency testing for biological threats.
• Offers laboratory and field support for biological threat agent detection.
