About The Position

Harrison on 5th Senior Living is seeking a creative and energetic Program Activity Coordinator to lead innovative programming and activities for our Assisted Living residents. At Harrison on 5th by Senior Star, the Program Activity Coordinator uses their role and the tasks it requires to provide legendary service to our residents, guests and their fellow associates.

Requirements

  • Prior 2 year experience working in a Senior Living Community
  • Experience and “knack” for working with people living with dementia.
  • Ability to think creatively and outside the box to lead existing Senior Star Signature Programs and bring to life new programming ideas.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Tech-savvy or a very quick learner for all things technology, as Senior Star utilizes an innovative resident engagement and activity tracking that requires use of the computer and app throughout each day.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more dementia care certifications, such as: Dementia Capable Care, Best Friends Approach, Positive Approach to Care, (Teepa Snow) Dementia Care Practitioner, Opening Minds through Art (OMA), etc.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates programs and activities that motivate and involve residents in a healthy lifestyle in accordance with the Senior Star Wellness Philosophy.
  • Tracks, reports, and meets benchmark standards for the programs department.
  • Maintains social media as directed by providing photos of events and information to support corporate marketing campaigns.
  • Oversee computer labs and computer classes.
  • Creates and promotes monthly activity calendars and newsletters
  • Provides supplies and opportunities to support residents in meaningful activities.
  • Decorates the community for holidays, activities, and events
  • Responsible for assisting leasing and marketing by scheduling open houses and special events to increase awareness in the community.
  • Provides wellness support of residents by developing supportive relationships with residents and their families and assists with resident transition and acclimation programs.
  • Coordinates the transportation schedule.
  • Encourages and maintains resident and outside volunteer programs in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties and projects assigned.
