About The Position

Are you dependable, energetic, and love working with kids? The New Canaan YMCA is looking for awesome individuals to join our team! We offer flexible scheduling and a variety of exciting opportunities where you can make a real impact — all while having fun. We’re currently hiring for part-time roles as Program/Activities Assistants to teach and support a range of youth programs, including: Ski & Board Club Counselors - (No ski/board experience required — just bring your energy and enthusiasm!) Recreational Athletics - (all athletic/sports backgrounds welcome!) Gymnastics & Parkour Vacation Camps & Drop-in Activities - (lead games, crafts, and adventures during school breaks and weekends) On-Site Babysitting services What we are looking for in applicants: Reliable and responsible individuals A positive attitude and team spirit Enjoy (and have experience) working with children of all ages Available for flexible scheduling (we will work with you!) Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Previous experience working with children (preferably ages 5-12).
Must be dependable and reliable for scheduled hours.
Should possess great class management skills while being patient, kind, energetic, responsive, and engaging.
Should have the ability to create and adapt activity plans for varying ages.
Must exercise good judgement when teaching children’s activities and ensure that children are safe and accounted for in all program areas.
Recognize any safety concerns regarding the use of the equipment and/or off-site venues where programming takes place.
Must be able to work reliably and independently with a willingness to actively engage and give clear directions to parents and children.
