Under limited supervision, the Program Accuracy Data Specialist performs a variety of duties independently assigned duties may include performing data or database administration work which includes physical database design, creation, management, and support and logical database modeling and administration; researches, compiles and evaluates information used in the development, enhancement and/or maintenance of mainframe or midrange computer systems hardware, operating systems software and related support processes; designs system enhancements or processes that meet client or technology requirements; integrates changes into existing processes; provides guidance and direction in the use of new and existing technology; performs related work as required. “You have the passion; we have the opportunities – let’s make a difference for Nebraskans!”

  • Coordinates with the Quality Control Program Manager and the 3 Program Accuracy Specialist Managers, collecting and analyzing their data to identify trends, and create visuals to make recommendations on how to improve agency practices.
  • Collects, analyzes, and provides data as requested by Public Records Requests, Operations, Policy, and Executive Leadership.
  • Coordinates with the Data Analyst under the Special Investigations Unit to analyze data, create visuals, and support when needed.
  • Associate Degree in Computer Science or related field of study and three years related experience or A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field and two years of experience. Experience may include application programming, software installation and software maintenance, including systems programming, online programming, database design, analysis and programming using IFS and/or SQL/DS and database administration. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
  • Knowledge of: database back and recovery systems; operating systems and platforms used in organization; commonly used query languages, such as SQL; database management concepts, principles and methods including database logical & physical design, normalization, storage capacity management and backup and recovery; sources, characteristics and uses of the organization’s data assets; characteristics of data storage media; data administration and data standardization policies, standards and methods; IT database security principles/methods; technical documentation procedures; assigned agency’s IT infrastructure; interrelationships among multiple IT specialties; computer hardware and software, including applications and programming; basic math; principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination and execution; data mining and data warehousing principles/methods; project management principles and methods. MVS internals; CICS internals; JES2 internals; DFSMS internals; relational database software and detailed technical knowledge of internal system processes and functions within SQL/DS software and the SQL language; MACRO coding concepts; AS (Dept. of Roads software); third party software products; software products used in conjunction with the network, such as Netview, Network Performance Monitor, NTUNEMON, VTAM (internals), NCP (network control program) (internals), CICS, and MVS; Job control language; hardware products such as personal computers, local area networks, specialized network hardware, network connections for hardware and communication lines; problem solving tools; programming languages.

  • At least 1 year of experience as an IT Analyst or at least 1 year of experience as a Data/Database Analyst.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Economic Assistance Programs, NFOCUS, SQL coding and Microsoft Office products (especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI), Knowledge of and experience with Continuous Quality Improvement processes, including quality assurance activities and performance improvement principles.
