About The Position

Working through the Center for Childrens Health, the Program Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of assigned community-based program efforts in Cook Childrens primary service areas that support and align with Cook Childrens Promise, Cook Childrens Strategic Plan, the Community-Wide Childrens Health Assessment and Planning Survey (CCHAPS) and other relevant data. The work promotes community relationships through collaborative partnerships working with diverse populations, prioritizing high-risk children and families. The Program Coordinator serves as a resource to community and system leadership to identify target audiences to communicate results and outcomes of community-based efforts. Requires some weekend/evening work and routine travel in the six-county service area as assigned (Tarrant, Johnson, Hood, Parker, Wise, Denton).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred
  • At least 3 years of community-based experience in relevant field: community engagement, building community capacity, health education, health promotion, etc.
  • Administrative experience and skills including strong computer skills and proficiency with various software/database applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Familiar with public health terminology, a self-starter, independent worker, highly motivated and able to work responsibly to protect patients' confidentiality and privacy
  • Must have current, valid Texas Drivers License with clean driving record
  • Private, reliable transportation capability
  • Must be 21 years of age; take and pass Cook Childrens Defensive Driving course once employed, and annually thereafter
  • Able to drive assigned CCHCS vehicle as an approved driver

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish or other language preferred but not required.
  • Relevant certification in injury prevention preferred.
  • Child Safety Coordinators ONLY require Safe Kids Worldwide Child Passenger Safety Technician Certification or Child Passenger Safety Technician Instructor Certification. Certification must be obtained within first 6 months of hire or as soon as a local course is available.
