About The Position

Central Arizona College, a diverse and innovative institution, is located in Pinal County, Arizona, a rapidly expanding business and residential community with a student population in excess of 12,000 on five major campuses and several emerging sites. Less than one hour from the Phoenix metro complex, faculty, staff, and students enjoy access to the arts, sports, recreation, and cultural history in the inviting Southwest climate. Faculty may teach at multiple sites, via distance learning (on-line, etc.) and traditional classroom instruction, possibly evenings and weekends. The position is funded under the Nursing Pilot Program Grant and aims to provide a quality education for Central Arizona College students, performing instruction-related and other duties in accordance with the college's philosophy, vision, mission, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Current AZ Nursing license in good standing or ability to obtain.
  • Three years of experience in clinical nursing.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in two specialty areas of nursing.
  • Experience instructing nursing students.
  • Knowledge and skill operating a variety of medical computer simulation programs and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Administration, organization, supervision of the Nursing Pilot Program.
  • Continuous quality review and improvement of the program.
  • Academic oversight, including curriculum planning and development, and outcomes.
  • Provide an inclusive learning environment.
  • Teach Nursing courses in various modalities (e.g., face-to-face, online, hybrid, etc.) as dictated by student needs.
  • Proficiency in operating a variety of computer software and multimedia equipment.
  • Provide and present information through various teaching/learning styles.
  • Employ a variety of assessment tools; evaluate grades and comments on student work.
  • Establish and maintain office hours per college policy.
  • Maintain records of student progress and performance; complete and return required reports.
  • Develop, prepare and evaluate instructional materials; write and develop syllabi and course calendars.
  • Review and update course outlines, text selection, and syllabi in cooperation with other faculty.
  • Propose and develop new courses, curriculum, programs, instructional materials, and evaluation tools.
  • Assist in recruitment and retention of students through teaching and learning strategies.
  • Cultivate development of instructional programs and knowledge of trends, pedagogy, andragogy, and new technologies.
  • Serve as a clinical instructor in various healthcare settings.
