About The Position

The Associate Dean for Research and Innovation at Old Dominion University's Batten College of Engineering and Technology is a leadership role aimed at enhancing the college's research enterprise. This position, which requires a tenured full professor, will focus on fostering research collaborations, securing funding, and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the college. The role is pivotal in advancing the strategic research mission of the college and involves significant interaction with external partners, including government and industry.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate or equivalent degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related field meritorious of appointment as a full professor.
  • Qualify for an appointment at the Full Professor rank in one of the five departments in BCET.
  • A record of accomplishment of sustained sponsored research.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies to foster research collaborations within the BCET and with external partners.
  • Advance the College's strategic plan and support critical initiatives.
  • Identify and secure new resources to elevate faculty-led research programs.
  • Provide oversight of the college's centers and institutes.
  • Develop strategies to achieve sustained growth of sponsored research and innovation.
  • Coordinate and assess strategies to maximize faculty success in securing externally sponsored research.
  • Facilitate research mentorship within the BCET.
  • Develop strategies to compete for large, multi-investigator and multi-institutional contracts and grants.
  • Maintain effective links with government agencies, industry organizations, and foundations relevant to BCET research activities.
  • Represent BCET research interests to the broader community.
