About The Position

The Professional Wetland Scientist / Project Manager role at Montrose involves managing environmental compliance projects related to energy development across multiple states. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in natural sciences.
  • Minimum of four years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) Certification is highly desired.
  • Strong background in natural sciences such as botany, soils, wetland science, or ecology.
  • Experience with energy regulations and working with Colorado ECMC.
  • Expertise in leading wildlife and raptor surveys, both independently and as a crew lead.
  • Expertise in wetland and stream identification and delineation, both independently and as a crew lead.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to state- and federally-listed species.
  • Experience with botanical and biological surveys and vegetation sampling techniques.
  • Proficiency in CO, WY, and UT vegetation (upland + wetland).
  • Excellent communication skills with regulatory agencies and clients.
  • Experience in writing proposals, estimating costs, and project management.
  • Proficient in technical writing and impact analyses.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated wetland delineation training (e.g., Basic Wetland Delineation from Wetland Training Institute).
  • Experience with electronic data collection (e.g. tablet).
  • Working knowledge of geographic information system (GIS).
  • Experience with environmental impact analysis related to energy and land management projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage biological resources for large-scale projects at the project and task level.
  • Conduct technical writing including proposals, technical reports, and senior level reviews of peer-prepared reports.
  • Estimate costs for biological resource projects and tasks.
  • Deliver quality, on-time products for clients, both internal and external.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects at different phases.
  • Conduct field surveys for wetlands and other biological resources.
