About The Position

The Nursing Tutor is responsible for one on one and small group instruction with students enrolled in Nursing classes. The Professional Tutor exhibits patience and a positive attitude in establishing an encouraging learning environment. The Professional Tutor possesses good organizational skills and be able to explain concepts to others effectively.

Requirements

• AS in Nursing required; Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred
• One year experience in teaching/tutoring at high school or college level preferred with knowledge of subject matter being tutored

Responsibilities

• Responsible for one on one and small group support for student learning
• Exhibit patience and a positive attitude in establishing an encouraging learning environment
• Combine clinical experience with academic expertise
• Demonstrates knowledge and competence in subject matter of specialty area
• Provides direct assistance to students individually or in small groups
• Supports students to develop and meet their academic goals
• Tutors according to the techniques presented in student classes
• Provides explanations, clarifies concepts, and demonstrates problem-solving strategies
• Works comfortably with people from diverse backgrounds
• Collaborates with immediate supervisor regarding tutoring best practices
• Participates in tutor training and development sessions as required
• Maintains and records student and usage records as needed
• Updates tutoring materials, including workshop development as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned
