University of Pittsburgh Physicians Department of Urology is hiring a full-time Professional Staff Nurse, OP to join their newly renovated office at St. Margarets Hospital! This is a Monday through Friday daylight position from 8am to 4:30pm. No evenings or weekends required. Sign On Bonus may be available. The Professional Staff Nurse plays an important role as a member of the care delivery team in both clinical and administrative ways. This position will support clinical staff and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. Clinical Care Assist with patient rooming, including obtaining vital signs, medical history, and medication lists, as needed. Perform in-office procedures: Urinalysis and specimen collection Foley catheter insertion, exchange, and removal Straight catheterization Suprapubic tube exchange Bladder scans Assist providers with select in-office procedures (e.g., vasectomy). Administer medications and injections as ordered by the provider. Patient Education & Communication Educate patients regarding diagnoses, procedures, medications, and post-procedure care. Provide catheter teaching and troubleshooting. Conduct phone triage for urologic symptoms (e.g., urinary retention, hematuria, infection symptoms). Communicate lab and imaging results per provider direction. Care Coordination Assist with prior authorizations. Coordinate and schedule procedures in Interventional Radiology. Facilitate care with hospitals, laboratories, and specialty offices. Arrange follow-up care and referrals as needed. Administrative & Office Support Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Support efficient clinic flow and optimize patient throughput.
