About The Position

UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is internationally recognized for its leadership in the prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer and is the region's only comprehensive cancer center designated by the National Cancer Institute. UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is currently hiring for a Regular Full Time Professional Staff Nurse, ONC (RN) to help support the Medical Oncology team at the Hillman Cancer Center located in Shadyside/Pittsburgh, PA. This position offers a $6,000 sign-on bonus and will work in the Treatment/Infusion room with a Regular Full Time daylight schedule Monday through Friday on the 3rd floor of the Hillman Cancer Center. The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and a member of the care delivery team. The Professional Staff Nurse is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Professional Staff Nurse has responsibility, authority, and accountability for the provision of nursing care. The Professional Staff Nurse manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members. The role of the Professional Staff Nurse encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision. The Professional Staff Nurse establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients, and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Professional Staff Nurse demonstrates a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession. We offer a Nursing career ladder which allows our staff to grow within the field at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. The incumbent will be placed into the appropriate level of our Nursing Career ladder based on education and experience.

Requirements

  • 6 months of RN experience required.
  • Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in PA, OH or NY required.
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment.
  • Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.
  • Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.

Nice To Haves

  • Oncology experience preferred.
  • IV/Infusion Skills preferred.
  • EMR/Triage experience preferred.
  • UPMC approved national certification preferred.
