About The Position

The Professional Radiology Assistant I (PRA I) is a Full Time, Regular position responsible for managing incoming exams from clients in Medicalis to facilitate timely and efficient review and report dictation by radiologists. This role provides administrative support to radiologists and clients. The PRA I must be able to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, meet continual deadlines, and handle multiple priorities with constant interruptions, requiring high organization. The individual interacts directly with radiologists, other departments within Inland Imaging, ordering physicians and their staff, PS read clients and contacts, patients, and family members. Excellent written, verbal, and personal communication skills, along with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality, are essential. The position involves making daily work priority decisions based on company policies and procedures, processing incoming phone calls and exams from clients in the Medical Imaging field, and assisting in the retrieval of radiological records and films while maintaining patient record integrity within systems or film libraries daily.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of clerical experience
  • Work experience utilizing multiple complex computerized applications
  • Keyboarding and computer skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Experience with Medicalis Control Center, Medicalis Operations, Stentor/PACS
  • Ability to pass a background check required by RCW 43.43.830-840 to work with children under the age of 16, developmentally disabled persons or vulnerable adults
  • Not be included on the LIST OF EXCLUDED INDIVIDUALS provided by the Department of Health & Human Services, Office of the Inspector General (OIG)
  • Ability to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test (which includes Marijuana)
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Honest, pleasant manner and good personal hygiene

  • Valid state driver’s license and proof of insurance

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and dispatch all exams appropriately to meet designated turnaround times.
  • Facilitate and dispatch referring physician and technologist calls to appropriate radiologists based on sub-specialty.
  • Triage multiple phone calls on multiple phone lines.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of all radiologist shift definitions and regional and sub-specialized radiologist groups.
  • Prepare exams for radiologist interpretation, including verifying exam, clinical information, contrast, fluoro time, and prior studies fields on the online form (OLF) are completed accurately.
  • Ensure all current and previous studies are loaded to the PACS system or otherwise documented, resolve exceptions, and link/merge pertinent accounts.
  • Merge patient accounts in Medicalis Operations and PACS as necessary.
  • Ensure radiologist has all electronic paperwork uploaded to the Patient Summary in Medicalis Control Center and/or PACS as needed for each exam, including previous reports, history and physicals, and other requested reports/notes.
  • Document and follow up on all communications on individual exams within Medicalis Control Center as necessary.
  • Adhere to critical test workflows and policies.
  • Monitor, track, and communicate procedure schedules for the radiologists.
  • Utilize multiple patient record systems and/or work with ordering provider offices to obtain additional histories and information on exams as needed and requested.
  • Track, notate, and add FTE credit for procedures, prelims, meetings, conferences, and downtimes for radiologists in Medicalis Control Center.
  • Follow up to ensure addendums are issued as necessary and timely.
  • Monitor and respond to email consistently and proactively.
  • Call/fax results to referring physicians as requested.
  • Provide a high level of customer service continuously.
  • Attend meetings as necessary and take minutes/notes to report to the team.
  • Order and stock beverages for radiologists on site.
  • Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of reading rooms on site daily.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality within the Inland Imaging companies and Inland’s customers.
  • Follow all Health and Safety policies and guidelines of Inland Imaging or its partners depending on work location.

  • Demonstrate self-directed learning and participation in continuing education through professional journals, approved seminars, etc.
  • Consider individual needs in communication with and assessment and treatment of patients of all ages.
  • Adhere to departmental standards and personnel policies by demonstrating professional demeanor in conduct and appearance.
  • Follow company departmental standards and personnel policies by using good teamwork and communication skills to help identify concerns and solutions, assisting where needed to ensure a smooth functioning department.
  • Perform other duties as required by displaying team spirit and self-growth, accepting and performing other projects and responsibilities, and requesting other projects and responsibilities.
  • Attend quarterly quality assurance meetings.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Rotate to other shifts and locations as needed.
  • Monitor worklists and filters within Medicalis using section guidelines; move exams as appropriate to ensure equal and accurate distribution of exams for sub-specialized reading.
  • Assist with electronically viewing previous reports.
  • Assign peer reviews daily to radiologists by sub-specialty.
  • Work in a hospital, urgent care or clinical setting as required.
