About The Position

The Professional Radiology Assistant position is a Full Time, Regular position working Monday-Friday 8am-5pm Monday-Friday at the Optum/Polyclinic Madison location in Seattle. Summary: The Professional Radiology Assistant is responsible for managing the incoming client exams in Medicalis Professional to facilitate a timely and efficient review and report dictation by the radiologist. This position provides administrative support as required to and by the radiologists. General Description: The Professional Radiology Assistant must be able to: work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced environment and in meeting continual deadlines; handle multiple priorities with constant interruptions; be highly organized to meet deadlines. This individual must interact directly with the radiologists, other departments within the Inland Imaging organizations, patients and family members and outside contacts. Excellent written, verbal and personal communication skills while remaining tactful and diplomatic as well as highly confidential as needed are requirements for this position. Decisions regarding daily work priorities and other decisions based on company policies and procedures are to be continually made. This individual is responsible for the processing of incoming phone calls and exams from respective clients in the Medical Imaging field. Assists in the retrieval of radiological records and films as well as maintains integrity of patient records contained within film library on a daily basis

  • Attendance is required for this position.
  • Rotates to other shifts and locations as needed.
  • AA Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Two years of clerical experience is desired
  • Minimum one year work experience using complex computerized applications
  • Key-boarding and computer skills
  • Anatomy and medical terminology preferred
  • Understanding of all procedures to be read by radiologist preferred
  • Must be able to pass a background check required by RCW 43.43.830-840 to work with children under the age of 16, developmentally disabled persons or vulnerable adults
  • In order to comply with provisions set forth in Sections 1128 and 1156 of the Social Security Act, all new employees of Inland Imaging Clinical Associates, LLC will be checked against the LIST OF EXCLUDED INDIVIDUALS provided by the Department of Health & Human Services, Office of the Inspector General (OIG). Employees must not be included on this list.
  • Eligible employees must be able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test which includes Marijuana.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of medical office experience is preferred
  • Experience with the following computer applications is highly desired: Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point), Kronos, Internet, Intranet, IDX, Imagecast, Medicalis Professional – Control Center, Medicalis OPS, Stentor, Sharepoint Solutions, Google Share, EPIC

Responsibilities

  • Monitor worklists and filters within Medicalis using section guidelines; move exams as appropriate to ensure equal and accurate distribution of exams for sub-specialized reading.
  • Appropriately prioritize all exams and dispatch as needed to meet designated turnaround time.
  • Facilitate and dispatch referring physician and technologist calls to appropriate radiologists by sub-specialty.
  • Triage multiple calls on multiple phone lines.
  • Knowledge of all radiologist shift definitions and sub-specialized radiologist groups.
  • Prepare exams for radiologist interpretation: includes verifying exam, clinical information, contrast, fluoro time and prior studies fields on the online form (OLF) are filled out accurately.
  • Document all communications on individual exams as necessary.
  • Utilize multiple patient record systems to obtain additional histories and information on exams as needed and requested.
  • Track and notate procedures, prelims, meetings, conferences and downtimes for radiologists in Medicalis.
  • Ensure that all current and previous studies are loaded, exceptions are resolved as necessary and all pertinent studies are linked.
  • Merge patient accounts as necessary.
  • Ensure radiologist has all electronic paperwork needed for each exam, including previous reports, history sheets, referral slips.
  • Consistently and proactively monitor and respond to email.
  • Assist with electronically viewing previous reports.
  • Appropriately prioritize all exams and dispatch as needed to meet designated turnaround time.
  • Fax/call results to referring physicians as requested.
  • Assign peer reviews daily to radiologists by sub-specialty.
  • Continually maintain a high level of customer service.
  • Attend meetings and take minutes/notes and report to the team as necessary.
  • Order and stock beverages for radiologists on site.
  • Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of reading rooms on site daily.
  • This position may be required to work in a hospital, urgent care or clinical setting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
